Practice practice practice

Today was practice rounds – individually on available tables, then in the big arena on the official tables. The kids shared a table with teams from Paraguay, New Mexico, South Korea, Spain, and Montana. The first official practice led to the best result. In between there were a lot of adjustments.

In between the challenge matches, they were at the pit talking to other kids, and also gave their robot design presentation.

It’s hard to appreciate how enormous this event is – here’s the clearest picture of the scale of it all – from one of the other (older kids) divisions of competition:

And here’s a time lapse walking from one end of the space to another, and traversing just two of three floors. It’s a little frenetic and hard to make out details, but that is representative of the overall feel here….

They did get a bit of a break in the Texas shaped lazy river, but now they are practicing again. Tomorrow is the big day – official matches and innovation project presentation!
